Books of Remembrance

Our Books of Remembrance service brings family and friends, wherever they live in the world, together enabling them to leave a remembrance message and/or light a candle for a loved one. If you have recently lost a loved one - or wish to leave a message for family, friends or neighbours who have recently lost a loved one - you may make your entry into their own Private Book Of Remembrance. These Private Books of Remembrance have been created by the loved one's family.

To check whether a Private Book of Remembrance has been opened you can either click on the Books of Remembrance link in the left hand panel above and browse the listing of Activated Books or use our Search Website facility which will return both Activated and Inactive Books. If you enter only the surname when completing the search fields this will enhance your search results.

When a Book of Remembrance is returned its status is indicated by a small book icon - a red cross indicates that the Book is Inactive and you will be unable to make any entries until the Book Owner, usually the family member responsible for the funeral arrangements, has activated the Book.

If there is no Private Book of Remembrance, normally because the loved one you wish to honour died some time ago or their Private Book of Remembrance has been closed, you may make your entry in the Public Book of Remembrance by clicking on the Light A Candle link.

Ros Childs

10th June 2011

If this is the Ros I remember as a young teenager- living off Cromarty Avenue, along with Wendy M on Balmoral Road - Im so saddened to hear that Ros is no longer with us. She - as a young teenager was such great fun, had such energy, spark, light and a smile for everyone. I moved away when I was 14, so never knew her as an adult. I think I missed out on the warmth she so obviously had as she grew up. God Bless her!
